1. Custodial relationship

Arkive stores Pokémon trading cards submitted by customers as a custodian. Ownership of the cards remains with the customer at all times. Arkive does not lend, pledge or use stored cards for any purpose other than the custodial and marketplace services described here.

2. Accepted formats

  • Graded cards in tamper-evident slabs (e.g. PSA, BGS, CGC, RaukCard and equivalent).
  • Single cards in a penny sleeve and toploader. A team bag around the toploader is recommended.

Not accepted

  • Loose cards without sleeve and toploader.
  • Booster packs, booster boxes and sealed products.
  • Bulk lots, binders, complete sets shipped without individual protection.
  • Non-Pokémon items, unless explicitly agreed in writing.

3. Submission process

  • You create a submission in the Arkive app, listing each item with its category, format and declared value.
  • You ship the submission to the address shown in the app, using a traceable shipping method. Shipping to Arkive is at the customer's risk and cost. Arkive assumes responsibility for accepted cards only after the shipment has been delivered and received by Arkive.
  • Arkive recommends a tracked shipping method, and insured shipping for high-value shipments. Arkive does not currently provide a separate insurance product covering inbound shipments.

4. Intake inspection

  • On arrival, Arkive opens the package, verifies the items against the submission and inspects condition.
  • Each accepted card is given a unique Arkive ID and assigned a storage location.
  • Arkive may take custody photos that document the actual condition of the card at intake. These photos belong to the customer's record and are distinct from official catalog reference images.

5. Catalog images vs. custody photos

Arkive uses the Pokémon TCG catalog to identify cards. Official catalog images shown in the app are reference only and do not depict your specific copy. Custody photos taken at intake represent the actual condition of your card.

6. Storage

  • Cards are stored in a secure indoor storage environment in Sweden.
  • Access is restricted to authorised Arkive staff.
  • Inventory is tracked by Arkive ID and storage location. Storage location identifiers displayed in the Arkive platform are internal operational references and may be changed without notice.

7. Rejected submissions

  • Arkive may reject items that do not meet the format requirements, that appear damaged beyond what was declared, or that are suspected to be counterfeit.
  • Rejected items can be returned at the customer's cost (standard withdrawal fees apply). Arkive may refuse storage of items suspected to be counterfeit. Such items may be returned to the customer, retained pending further investigation, or handled in accordance with applicable law.

8. Condition and authenticity

Arkive records the condition of cards at intake using custody photos and submission records.

Customers are responsible for reviewing submission information for accuracy.

Custody photos and intake records may be used to investigate disputes regarding condition, ownership or authenticity.

9. Withdrawals

  • You may request withdrawal of any stored card at any time, provided the card is not currently reserved for a pending transaction.
  • Withdrawals incur a withdrawal fee based on the number of items, plus shipping. Current fees are listed on the Fees & Pricing page.
  • Arkive will normally use a traceable shipping method appropriate to the value of the shipment.

10. Storage fees and free storage

  • The first 12 months of storage from the date your first card is received are free.
  • The free storage period is assigned at the account level: it starts when Arkive first receives any card for the account and applies to the entire collection during that period.
  • After the free period, storage fees apply based on the number of stored cards, as listed on the Fees & Pricing page.
  • If storage fees remain unpaid, Arkive may suspend marketplace functionality, withdrawals, or other services until outstanding fees are settled.

11. Marketplace reservation

Cards that are listed for sale, subject to an accepted offer, or involved in an active transaction may be temporarily unavailable for withdrawal until the transaction is completed or cancelled.

12. Inactive accounts

If an account remains inactive for an extended period and Arkive is unable to contact the customer despite reasonable efforts, Arkive reserves the right to take reasonable measures to resolve the situation in accordance with applicable law. Arkive does not acquire ownership of customer cards through inactivity.

13. Liability and insurance

  • Arkive exercises reasonable care in storing and handling cards.
  • Arkive is not responsible for pre-existing defects, condition issues that were not disclosed at submission, or natural changes in card condition unrelated to handling (e.g. fading not caused by Arkive).
  • Arkive does not guarantee grading outcomes or future market value of any card.
  • Arkive does not currently provide a separate insurance product covering customer cards. In case of loss or material damage attributable to Arkive, liability is limited as set out in section 10 of the Terms of Service.
  • Declared values provided by customers may be used as part of the claims review process but do not automatically determine compensation.
  • Any insurance coverage, compensation limits, valuation methods or reimbursement policies may be described separately and may change over time.
